Privacy

afterdark.vtg is a shared archive run by independent vintage curators from Pampanga, Philippines. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The short version

You can browse without an account. We don’t use ad or tracking cookies. You only sign in to make an offer on the site or to offer us a piece on Sell to the archive, and for that we need your email. Your offer goes to the curator of that piece; what you send us to sell is seen by the curators only. We never sell your data. You can delete your account yourself, or ask us to, anytime.

When you browse

No account is needed. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We measure page speed with Vercel Speed Insights, which records anonymous measurements for each page view: the page, how fast it loaded, your browser, device type and operating system, network speed and country. It isn’t tied to you or your IP address.

When you tap Inquire, we count the tap for that piece so curators know which pieces get attention. The count stores only the piece, its curator and the time, nothing about you.

To stop spam, our server briefly uses your IP address to limit repeated requests (Inquire taps, sign-in codes and offers). It’s held in memory only and never saved. Our host, Vercel, processes the IP address of every visit to deliver the site.

When you sign in

To make an offer on the site, or to send us a piece on Sell to the archive, you sign in with your email. We email you a one-time code; there is no password. Sign-in cookies keep you signed in on that device, and they’re used for nothing else. We don’t use your email for newsletters or marketing.

Sending an offer through Instagram instead needs no sign-in, and we store nothing: we copy a message for you and open the curator’s Instagram DMs.

When you make an offer

We store: the piece, the amount and currency, your Instagram handle (required, so the curator can reach you), your email, your optional note, the dates, and where the offer stands (pending, accepted, declined, withdrawn, or closed once the piece sells). We remember your Instagram handle to fill in your next offer. To limit spam, we also note the time of each offer you send or change, and clear those notes after a day.

When you sell to the archive

On Sell to the archive you can offer the curators a piece. We store what you send: up to four photos, what the piece is, its size, its era or year if you give one, your asking price (or that you want us to make an offer), your condition notes, your Instagram handle (required, so a curator can reach you), your city or area, your email, the dates, and where the submission stands (new, claimed, contacted, bought, passed or withdrawn). Each submission gets a reference like SELL-0001.

Why: so the curators can decide whether to buy the piece and message you on Instagram about it. We also remember your Instagram handle to fill in your next submission or offer.

Who sees it: the curators only. Nothing you send here is shown on the site. Your photos are kept in private storage that has no public link; curators open them through links that expire after ten minutes. Your email is shown to the site’s admin only. Our activity log records that a submission was filed, which curator claimed it, and your Instagram handle.

Limits, to stop spam: up to 3 submissions a day and 5 open at once. The site’s admin can block an email from sending more; we keep a blocked email on a list for that purpose.

You can withdraw a submission while it is open. A submission we passed on, or that you withdrew, is deleted automatically with its photos 30 days later. Photos you added but never sent are deleted after a day. A submission we bought stays as the shop’s record.

How we use it

  • To send your sign-in codes.
  • To show your offer to the curator of that piece, on their offers page and by email.
  • To let you track your offers on My offers.
  • To email you when an offer is accepted or declined. We’re still setting up this email, so for now check My offers.
  • To prevent spam: one active offer per piece per person, and at most 10 offers or changes an hour.
  • To show the curators what you send through Sell to the archive, and to let you follow it there under My submissions.

Who can see it

The curator who owns the piece sees your offer: the amount, your Instagram handle, your email and your note. Other curators can’t see your offers; our database only shows each curator the offers on their own pieces. The public only sees how many offers a piece has (withdrawn offers aren’t counted), never who made them or how much.

When a curator accepts or declines your offer, our activity log records the piece, the amount and your Instagram handle. That curator and the site’s admin can see the log.

Services we use

These companies process data only to run the site:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage, in Singapore.
  • Vercel: hosting, in Singapore, and speed measurement.
  • Google (Gmail): sends our sign-in emails.
  • Resend: sends emails about offers.

Payments and DMs

We don’t take payments on this site. Payment, shipping and meetups are arranged directly with the curator, usually in Instagram DMs. Instagram’s own privacy policy applies there, and Whatnot’s applies if you join a live show.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and offers so you can track them. Offers are deleted automatically 12 months after they’re accepted, declined, withdrawn or closed, and an account with no offers and no sign-in for 12 months is deleted too.

You can delete your account and all your offers yourself on My offers (Delete my account), or ask us to. Deleting your account also deletes your submissions on Sell to the archive and their photos. Activity log entries about accepted or declined offers, and about submissions, stay as the shop’s record.

Your rights

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173), you can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Email afterdarkvtg.site@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, and we’ll reply within 15 days.

Changes

If this page changes, we’ll update the date at the top.
